This was the very first project assigned in 3D materials and concepts art class: build a pair of shoes entirely out of masking tape. These shoes were based on the cheap five dollar pair found in Walmart and materials used were various sizes of masking tape. At the beginning of this project I took measurements of different areas of the shoe, recorded them, and build a paper mock up to understand the form and measurements better. Most of the shapes seen in the process photos have been created by layers of masking tape to form a sheet (around four layers) and then a template was traced out to be cut by an exacto knife. One thing tricky about this project was the toe kick being transformed, the tape used was not to hold the toe kick up for long and is seen flat in the images. This project helped in comprehending the shoe's texture, shape and form through different variations of trail and error.
